Mission
Motherly Care (MOCA) Family Services with its non-profit 501©(3) Pounds of Care has facilitated delivery of meaningful opportunities to River Region families for over 30 years, significantly impacting and restoring “at risk” women. Over this time, MOCA has posted a strong record of performance, spurring the development of human capital through provision of social services to the target population, women who have fallen “off the track” and require a helping hand. Central in these efforts is the effective design and delivery by MOCA staff of occupational training programs which equip at-need women with highly marketable skills which open the door to new employment and a better life.
A Distinct Identity
Pounds of Care at a Glance
Pounds of Care knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. Back in 2000, our Non-Profit Organization realized that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why MOCA ultimately decided to launch Pounds of Care.

Heroes in Nursing
Pounds of Care is re-launching our tuition free Nursing Assistance Program.
Heroes in Nursing allows students to advance as a Clinical Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician or Phlebotomy Technician. The program lasts approximately (6) Six Weeks and each participant will achieve certification during that time. Our goal is to let students progress from one medical profession to another, with the ultimate goal of achieving certification and experience in each particular discipline so they can move up the ladder and become either LPNs, Registered Nurses, or some other sought after profession in the medical field.
